Alabama Firefighters' Annuity and Benefit Board

The Board of Commissioners will me on Tusday, May 24th, at 10:00AM in Montgomery, Alabama.  The meeting will take place at the AAVFD office on Adams Ave (Tuskegee Bank).  Everyone is invited to attend the meeting.

The Board of Commissioners will meet at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 12th, at the Alabama Fire College.  This work session is being held to complete the design of the software and to prepare for the initial launch of the software.  The Board of Commissioners will also discuss the actuary and contract requirements with firms that can provide that service. The public is invited to attend.

The Alabama Firefighters’ Annuity and Benefit Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday, April 18th at the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa to work on the software system that will manage the fund membership.  The meeting is set to begin at 1:30 PM and the public is invited.

The Alabama Firefighters’ Annuity and Benefit Fund Board of Commissioners will hold a work session on Thursday, March 10th, at 2:00PM.  The meeting will be held at the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  The meeting will concern the design and selection of a software program for the management of the funds members and assets.  The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners has not been announced as of yet.

The Board of Commissioners met today in Tuscaloosa at the Alabama Fire College.  The questions that seem to be asked the most are not answered as of yet, but the answer moved one step closer.  The two biggest questions asked by Alabama Firefighters…

1) How much does it cost to purchase time served?

2) How much does the fund pay in retirements benefits?

The Funds Executive Director will be meeting with the individuals responsible for providing this much needed information shortly.  As soon as the information is available it will be posted on the website and made available for download.  In the meantime, join the fund and help us help you.  As always, any questions can be sent to information@alabamafirefightersabf.org

The Alabama Firefighters’ Annuity and Benefit Fund Board of Commissioners met on December 21, 2010 to discuss several matters.  Among the items discussed was a measure to suspend the payment of benefits for 24 months.  This decision was made in order for the fund to grow to a point where it can maintain the required levels deemed necessary by the board and meet the needs of our members. 

The next meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for January 19, 2011 at the Alabama Fire College.

Thanks to the efforts of many in the Alabama Fire Service an annuity and benefit plan is now available to all members of the Alabama Fire Service.  The details of this program are covered in the brochure that can be found at the following link (Insert Link). Any firefighter, paid or volunteer, that wish to become a part of this fund should complete an application for enrollment and forward it to the address listed below.  Forms are not currently accepted electronically, but we hope to make this service available in the near future.  If you have questions please contact our office for further information.
